This course examines service and repair of mechanical, electrical and electronic components and systems associated with light vehicle engines, suspension, steering, braking, transmissions, ignition and electrical accessory systems and related components. Tasks also include discussing problems with customers to detect faults through various diagnostic procedures and use of specialised diagnostic equipment. The introduction of electronic control for engine, emission and dynamic vehicle control systems has given an added dimension to the complexity of this tradition motor mechanic’s work.
Work Placement Duration: 152 hours
Students will undertake a work placement for 2 weeks each semester (76 hours per semester, 152 hours for the course), additional 526 hours are spent at TAFESA workshops practicing hand skills and putting knowledge they have learnt into practice.

Academic IELTS score of 5.5 Overall with minimum of 5.0 in all bands or equivalent.

Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Nepalese students need satisfactory completion of Year 12 or overseas equivalent 60% in the top 4 subjects (excluding native language) for all courses (i.e. Cert III, Cert IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Associate Degree) If student has needed to re-sit for their exam, student also need to provide all exam results.
