Что я буду изучать?

This inter-departmental program explores various relationships between world literature and historical studies. Interested students must plan their program in consultation with both department advisors, and should consult Guidelines for Course Selection which is available from each department.

Students complete 120 units. Students are moreover required to satisfy the prerequisites of all courses (upper and lower division) that are taken within this joint major and should consult regularly with the program advisors regarding course selection.

History is about seeing the big picture of how and why things have changed over time. Historians study everything that humans do, from politics to sexuality to religion to work to war to social movements to science, and beyond. Studying History gives you the ability to make sense of a changing world.

The History program in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences offers a major and a minor. It also offers certificates in Hellenic Studies and in Labour Studies. You can start this program at the Surrey campus.

Students in History major program have the option of taking concentrations to enhance their programs.

  • Concentration in British History and Irish History
  • Concentration in Early Modern World History
  • Concentration in Middle Eastern and Islamic History

Other English Language Requirements accepted: A minimum TOEFL score of 580 (paper-based).

Applicant must have completed Year 12 High School or its equivalent to Canadian High School.

Obtain a satisfactory score on one of the following English language proficiency tests.

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 6.5 on the Academic Modules with no part less than 6.
  • TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language internet based test) with an overall score of 88 or better with a minimum score of 20 in each of the four components (listening, speaking, writing, reading)
  • TOEFL CBT (Test of English as a Foreign language computer based test) with a minimum score of 230 including a minimum essay score of 4.5
  • TOEFL CBT with a minimum score of 250.
  • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) with an overall score of 70, with no part less than 60
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with an overall score of 65, with no part less than 60
