Канада

Что я буду изучать?

WHY STUDY HEALTH PROMOTION AT DAL?

Health promotion is about encouraging the health and well-being of individuals and their communities. This program is unique in Canada, accepting only 40 students each year so we can develop a small, strong, well-rounded group of health promotion specialists. You'll work together in the program and in the community upon graduation.

What will I learn?

The Health Promotion program offers you the chance to take a variety of unique courses that will prepare you for a successful career. In first year, you’ll take a broad range of introductory courses in the School of Health and Human Performance as well as from different departments including Computer Science, Statistics, Anatomy, Sociology, and Physiology.

After your first year you'll choose between entering the Community Health Promotion stream or the Research and Policy stream. In your final year you'll complete a 14-week internship; taking you out of the classroom and providing you with hands-on work experience.

Sample courses:

  • Health Promotion Policy
  • Introduction to Disease Prevention
  • Mental Health Promotion

Careers and future study:

The opportunities are growing as governments, organizations, and private businesses see the value of preventative health and enhancing wellness. Since you'll not only learn the theory, but also put it to practice in real-world situations, you'll be well prepared for exciting careers in many areas where health has an impact on people’s lives. These careers include:

  • community health worker
  • health promoter for chronic disease and injury prevention agency
  • child injury health promotion specialist

Future studies could include programs at the graduate level in health services research, medicine or business administration.
