Career Pathways:
The Financial Services industry is one of the largest employers in Canada. Banks and investment companies offer increasing options to consumers, and this explosion of financial products requires trained specialists to sell and manage them. Further increasing the demand for wealth managers is the advent of the "baby boomer" generation seeking retirement planning and investment management to secure a sound financial position in retirement. WorkFutures, the B.C. government’s comprehensive study on occupational outlooks, ranked the growth rate for financial management careers to be "much faster" than average. Incomes were also rated "much higher than average," with about 35 percent of financial planners being self-employed.
