Что я буду изучать?

Our program provides comprehensive instruction in mechanical engineering design, research and development.

Job-specific skills

In this program, you'll work in Sheridan's sophisticated laboratory environment with the most current tools and techniques, completing projects that simulate the workplace responsibilities of mechanical engineering technicians. You'll acquire a broad base of fundamental knowledge, along with job-specific skills that employers are looking for.

Hands-on experience

You'll study mechanical engineering systems under the CDIO paradigm (conceive, design, implement and operate), using advanced equipment and technologies, including:

Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)

Fluid power technology

Energy systems

Fluid mechanics

Kinetics and dynamics of machines

Computer-assisted Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM)

Co-op opportunities

Mechanical Engineering Technology students can apply for a paid co-op work term, supplementing their education with paid work experience. Enrolment is limited through an additional co-op selection process.

Career Opportunities

Sheridan-educated mechanical engineering technicians/technologists enjoy an advantage in the job market, due to their well-rounded skill-set and familiarity with industry-standard applications.

Recent graduates moved into the following careers:

  • Computer-assisted Manufacturing (CAM) Technologist
  • HVAC Technologist
  • Mechanical Engineering Design Technologist
  • Plant Operation Technologist
  • Process Control Technician/Technologist
  • Product Development and Testing Technician/Technologist
  • Production Technician/Technologist
  • Quality Control Technician/Technologist

Learning Outcomes

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • Complete all work in compliance with current legislation, standards, regulations and guidelines.
  • Apply quality control and quality assurance procedures to meet organizational standards and requirements.
  • Comply with current health and safety legislation, as well as organizational practices and procedures.
  • Apply sustainability best practices in workplaces.
  • Use current and emerging technologies to support the implementation of mechanical engineering projects.
  • Analyze and solve mechanical problems by applying mathematics and fundamentals of mechanical engineering.
  • Interpret, prepare and modify mechanical engineering drawings and other related technical documents.
  • Contribute to the design and the analysis of mechanical components, processes and systems applying fundamentals of mechanical engineering.
  • Manufacture, assemble, maintain and repair mechanical components according to required specifications.
  • Verify the specifications of materials, processes and operations to support the design and production of mechanical components.
  • Contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of projects.
  • Develop strategies for ongoing personal and professional development to enhance work performance.
