The degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery is the degree to which a candidate is admitted upon the completion of undergraduate education in Dentistry. It is recognized by dental licensing boards as evidence of graduation, although it does not of itself confer the right to practice Dentistry. Dental education is designed to unify the basic and clinical sciences, as it is believed that scientific and professional development cannot be sharply differentiated, but should proceed concurrently throughout the dental program.
An internationally recognized dental program, the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree comprises the first and biggest step towards practicing dentistry. Through this four-year degree, students experience a curriculum that crosses basic and clinical sciences, ensuring that scientific and professional development proceed smoothly through each student’s education.
In years 1 and 2 of this professional degree, students gain in-depth expertise on the fundamentals of dentistry, basic science and diagnostics. In years 3 and 4, students are given unique opportunities to treat patients in one of our 14 dental clinics, or through one of our community service learning opportunities.
Career Opportunities:
