The world is built on digital and electrical technology. As a graduate student in electrical and computer engineering, you’ll learn essential career skills and conduct independent research.

Our faculty and graduate students are working in research areas such as:

Our MASc degree program is for students who want to pursue advanced research. Your work will advance knowledge in the field of electrical and computer engineering. You’ll study and work among a diverse cohort of MASc students from around the world. You will complete course work, seminars and defend your thesis in an oral examination under faculty supervision.

Applicants must have completed a 4-year bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an institution recognized by UVic. Equivalent of a minimum “B” average over the last two years of your degree. English language requirement: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Minimum score of 90 from the internet-based TOEFL (IBT). You must also score at least 20 points each in the listening, speaking, reading and writing sections. IELTS: Minimum overall band score of 6.5 on the IELTS. No individual component can have a score lower than 6.0. MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery): A score of 90 on the MELAB will be accepted as proof of English proficiency.

English Language requirements:

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - Require a minimum of 90 with the following minimum section requirements: Listening 20; Speaking 20; Reading 20; Writing 20. The minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 575 on the paper-based test. Individual departments may set a higher standard.
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - A minimum Overall Band Score of 6.5, with no score of less than 6.0 on each individual component on the Academic IELTS is required.
  • MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) - A score of 90 on the MELAB will be accepted

Applications open one year prior to the entry term and may be submitted prior to the deadline.
