Что я буду изучать?

A student studying full time should expect to finish the Dalhousie Master of Electronic Commerce (MEC) in two years. It is possible to finish early if all requirements are satisfied, but tuition must still be paid.

The courses are usually taken during the terms Fall-1, Winter-1, and Fall-2, while the terms Summer-1, Winter-2, and Summer-2 are used for internships or individually-supervised research.

The first eight months:

Fall-1 term

Research

The research component features three options:

  • A research paper, two additional courses and an internship
  • A project and an internship
  • A thesis that focuses on producing novel research. This does not include an internship.

What courses do you need for the MEC?

There are five core courses in the MEC program. The core courses are designed to give students a comprehensive introduction to each of the e-Commerce domains. Core course are taught by experts in the related domain.

  • ECMM 6000 - Overview of Electronic Commerce
  • ECMM 6010 - Technical Issues for Electronic Commerce
  • ECMM 6020 - Business Issues for Electronic Commerce
  • ECMM 6030 - Issues in Law and Policy for Electronic Commerce
  • ECMM 6040 - Research Methods for Electronic Commerce

Though students are expected to complete all core courses, students might be eligible to have one waived if they have an undergraduate background in that domain. Instead of taking a core course, students take one of the elective courses.

Elective courses:

Depending on program option selection, students can be expected to take between three and six electives. MEC students are eligible to take specific graduate level courses from the faculties of Computer Science, Management or Law, so long as course prerequisites are met or the instructor’s permission is obtained.

Students can also take other graduate courses approved for their research program.
