Overview

Get the skills you need in Canadore’s combined 1,800 sq.ft. plumbing labs, which are set up to simulate multi-levels of an actual residence and equipped with industry-specific tools. Individually and in teams, students have the opportunity to build residential and commercial plumbing systems, install fixtures and test all systems. You will gain a variety of trade-specific skills including installing, maintaining and repairing piping systems, soldering, and heating and hot water systems.

NOTE: Successful completion is equivalent to Level 1 Apprenticeship in-class portion.

Learning Outcomes

Learning outcomes represent culminating demonstrations of learning and achievement. In addition, learning outcomes are interrelated and cannot be viewed in isolation of one another. As such, they should be viewed as a comprehensive whole. They describe performances that demonstrate that significant integrated learning by graduates of the program has been achieved.

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to

1. Complete all work in compliance with current legislation, standards, regulations and guidelines.

2. Contribute to the application of quality control and quality assurance procedures to meet organizational standards and requirements.

6. Troubleshoot and solve standard mechanical problems by applying mathematics and fundamentals of mechanics.

7. Contribute to the interpretation and preparation of mechanical drawings and other related technical documents.

8. Perform routine technical measurements accurately using appropriate instruments and equipment.

9. Assist in manufacturing, assembling, maintaining and repairing mechanical components according to required specifications.

10. Select, use and maintain machinery, tools and equipment for the installation, manufacturing and repair of basic mechanical components.

Applicants must have completed a OSSD or equivalent. If English is not your first language you must provide proof of English competency. You must have a minimum overall band score of 5.5 on the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or equivalent accepted English language proficiency test to be admitted to a postsecondary program at the college.
