The Department of Veterinary Pathology serves as the Western College of Veterinary Medicine's source of teaching, research and diagnostic services in all aspects of veterinary pathology.
Many of the department's faculty members are actively involved in the WCVM's anatomic and clinical pathology diagnostic services. These activities, which provide a wide range of case material, enrich the department's clinical and laboratory teaching programs as well as its research programs.
Excellent facilities for research and for disciplinary training in diagnostic veterinary pathology are available. Current research interests include pathogenesis of infectious diseases, mucosal immunity, innate immunity and disease resistance, oncology, viral oncogenes is, hematologic disorders, wildlife diseases and skeletal diseases.

Doctor of Philosophy - direct entry
With the recommendation of the unit, direct entry Ph.D. admission is available to exceptionally strong students, who show great promise in terms of academic accomplishments and potential for research.

Fully qualified: Overall score of 86 with minimum scores of 19 in each area
IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
Fully qualified: Overall score of 6.5 with no score below 6.0 in each area
CanTEST (Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees)
Fully qualified: Overall score of 4.5 with minimum scores of 4.5 in each area.
PTE (Pearson Test of English)
Fully qualified: Overall score of 63 with minimum scores of 59 in each area.
