PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

This certificate is specifically tailored to provide individuals with many unique, exciting and tactile learning experiences. Courses are taught mostly out-of-doors in order to immerse the learner in many realistic and challenging situations. Upon registration itinerary, equipment, gear and food requirements will be provided by the instructors. Students are responsible for providing all required equipment, gear, food, transportation and park fees, unless otherwise stated. This program is a venue for professional upgrading, for developing employment-ready skills, knowledge and abilities.

Courses are offered in the Bancroft and Georgian Bay areas. Locations can change depending on registration numbers.

The minimum requirements for admission to any post-secondary program is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (30 credits) or an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or the equivalent, with credits at the college or general level, or mature student status as defined.

MATURE APPLICANTS
Applicants who are 19 years of age on the first day of classes in the year of admission, and who do not have an OSSD, are considered as mature applicants. Such applicants must complete the required subjects for admission. If they lack the required subjects, they may be requested to write a diagnostic test.

Language Requirements

TOEFL: (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - 550 (paper-based test), 80 (iBT internet-based test with minimums of 20)

IELTS (International English Language Test Service) - 6.0 overall with no bands less than 6.0 (under SDS), 6.0 overall with one band at 5.5 (generic category) 6.5 overall with no bands less than 6.0, 7.0 overall with no bands less than 6.5

CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment) - Overall band of 60, writing 60

Cambridge English Exam - C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency

Duolingo English Test - 95 – 100, 105 – 110* (equivalent to IELTS 6.5), 115 – 120** (equivalent to IELTS 7.0)

Pearson PTE Academic - Overall 54

International students should apply as early as possible in order to allow enough time to obtain student visas and study permits, which can take several months depending on their home country. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure they have enough time to apply for their study permit and/or student visa. As space in some programs may be limited, applicants are also strongly encouraged to apply to their desired intake. Applications will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis.
