There are two types of full-time graduate programs offered in all SUSTech colleges and departments: PhD Program and Integrated Master-PhD Program. Both types of programs are taught in English.

The PhD Program is for four years. The Integrated Master-PhD Program is for five years (two years for Master and the other three years for PhD).

Micro- and nanofabrication

Developing new micro- and nanofabrication techniques and their applications in microelectronics, nanophotonics, bioengineering, and biomedical engineering.

Oxide materials and devices for artificial synapses

Developing oxide based ferroelectric field effect transistor for artificial synapses

Carbon fiber reinforced composite structural battery

Multifunctional carbon fiber-reinforced polymer composites, combining load bearing and energy storage capabilities, is a promising approach to realize lightweight design for electric products and equipment. The aim of the project is to develop high-capacity composite structural batteries. The energy storage mechanisms of hierarchical structures on the carbon fiber surface and high-strength and high-ionic conductive polymer matrix and its morphology-performance relationship will be studied.

Water exchanges and circulation dynamics in the Mirs Bay and Deep Bay of the Great Bay Area

Based on field and satellite observations as well as the state-of-the-art numerical simulations (ROMS) to investigate the dynamics that govern the water exchanges and circulations in the Mirs Bay and Deep Bay of the Great Bay Area. Responses of regional marine environments to the global warming.

Realtime Strong Ground Motion Simulation for China Region: This project shall combine our seismic wave numerical simulation method for topographic region with high performance computing technology to implement a realtime strong ground motion simulation system for China region.

Tibetan Plateau deformation during the Cenozoic: Despite massive efforts of researchers around the world, our understanding of the Tibetan Plateau dynamic evolution is still limited. This project focuses on building 4D models of the Tibetan Plateau and adjacent areas during the Cenozoic using state-of-arc geodynamic numerical tools.

Seismic imaging of crust and mantle discontinuities: Development and application of high-resolution seismic imaging methods to study crust and mantle discontinuities at regional and global scale
