The BApplEcon degree requires a minimum of 360 credits acquired over three years, with the following requirements:

  • not more than 180 credits at the 100-level
  • at least 270 credits must be taken from the Schedule for the Degree of Bachelor of Applied Economics (This includes all compulsory courses)
  • include at least 90 credits at the 300-level
  • remaining credits may be taken from more Economics courses (prefix 178), or approved courses from any other degree courses

Candidates may credit to the BApplEcon course no more than 45 credits in which they have gained an R (restricted pass). A restricted pass shall not qualify as a pass for corequisite or prerequisite purposes.

Students must have successful completion of a qualification equivalent to the New Zealand Year 13 - NCEA Level 3 University Entrance. International students need to check the equivalency of their secondary school qualification by reviewing the Academic Admission Requirements by Country.

Students from a country where English is not the first language, must obtain a minimum English Language competency level.

  • IELTS score of 6.0 (no band less than 5.5)
