This new Health, Wellbeing and Social Care degree will help open the door to a rewarding career meeting the needs of others in our society.****The health and social care field is a growing area. As more emphasis is placed on health promotion in our society, there is an ever-increasing demand for qualified health and social care practitioners. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has sharply focused our attentions on the importance of good-quality health care provision in our communities.**Students will develop an understanding of the theory underpinning care practice, which will enhance the quality of care provided for clients either in work or on placement. Curriculum content will be strongly influenced by the principles of wellbeing and prevention and the precept that an individual client, their family, and/or carer must be informed and empowered to make decisions relating to their own care.**About the course**Entry requirements• You must have achieved 48 UCAS tariff points from a Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a health related subject (including a relevant T Level qualification).• You are required to have GCSE passes at a minimum grade 4 (formerly grade C) or equivalent in English and Mathematics.• Related work experience is preferable but not essential.• Acceptance for the course is conditional upon a successful Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS check) and interview.**Applicants who have already achieved (or expect to pass) a full Level 5 (such as an HND or Foundation Degree) in a relevant subject area are very welcome to apply for direct entry to Year 3 (Level 6) of the programme. Use entry point 3 when making your UCAS choice.****Level 4 (Year 1) modules are planned to include:**-academic study skills-Law, policy and ethical practice-professional principles and values-introducing the science of Wellbeing-human behaviour and development-introduction to theory and practice**Level 5 (Year 2) modules are planned to include:**-safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults-providing holistic assessments and person-centred care-introduction to sociology-introduction to contemporary social issues-fundamentals of team and individual leadership-social work and community development**Level 6 (Year 3) modules are planned to include:**-anatomy and physiology-social psychology-an understanding of Eastern and Western philosophy to Health, Social Care and Wellbeing-introduction to quantum thinking-dissertation/independent research project**Assessments**A combination of traditional and innovative assessment methods are utilised such as: projects, presentations, industry work experience and individual or group assignments. Examinations will be a mixture of timed open and closed-book tasks.**Qualification awarded:**Level 6 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Health, Social Care and Wellbeing (subject to validation)**Bursaries**We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed.
