MA Professional Translation Studies

The MA Professional Studies course, funded by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, is a national postgraduate scheme led and taught primarily by Aberystwyth University. It also includes a collaborative element with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, which provides and teaches the optional interpretation modules.

Course Details

This scheme of study is suitable for anyone wishing to develop a career in professional translation or anyone interested in pursuing a path to doctoral research (PhD). The scheme combines specialist taught modules with work placement opportunities alongside professional translators in the Welsh translation sector. Students will have the opportunity to study theory and translation techniques, technology and translation resources, as well as the role of the translator in the workplace.

Possible areas include general, legislative and specialist translation, technological translation, international and creative translation, and simultaneous translation (University of Wales Trinity Saint David), and a research project.
