You graduate with Qualified Teacher Status, ready to inspire the next generation in a subject with a high demand for teachers. **How you learn**All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.This course encourages the application of scientific and teaching knowledge in real settings. You undertake 24 weeks placement in secondary schools, reinforced by diverse and enriching lessons from our highly experienced science and education tutors. You acquire a specialist knowledge of science, and the professional expertise to teach it.You learn through- dual academic emphasis on science and education- at least 24 weeks of school experience, starting at one day per week in the first year of the course with longer placements in the second and third year- wide-ranging teaching methods, with collaborative and individual studies- purpose-built labs that reflect the school environment**Applied learningPlacements** Starting from one day per week in your first year to longer periods in your second and third, you will work in schools to develop the knowledge skills and values required of teachers. You will be assigned a school-based mentor to help you hone your teaching skills and apply your theory - helping you to work with individual students and whole classes. Sheffield Hallam has strong links to regional secondary schools to ensure your training is of the highest quality. Many of our graduates attain full time employment at their placement schools.
