Italian: Italian Studies Emphasis

The interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts in Italian asks students to select one of two focuses. The Italian Studies emphasis is perfect for students whose interest in Italian culture is wide ranging from art and film to history and politics. Students take courses in the Italian language, cinema, literature, and culture from a world-renowned faculty, plus students are encouraged to enhance classroom work with a study abroad opportunity in Orvieto, Italy. In addition to gaining a rich understanding of Italian arts and culture, students graduate with the multi-language and cross-cultural communications skills that prepare them for the international job market.
Italian: Language and Literature Emphasis
Transform your love of the Italian language into cross-cultural, multilingual expertise in an essential skill in our increasingly global economy. The Bachelor of Arts major in Italian with a Language and Literature emphasis offers an interdisciplinary approach that focuses on the study of the Italian language. In this program one of the largest Italian programs in the country students acquire a high level of proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Italian. In addition to the study of language, coursework covers the literary and artistic aspects of Italian culture and their contributions to the world; milestones and major events in Italian history; and modern Italian culture, current events and politics. Classroom learning is enhanced by study abroad opportunities in Italy every semester, including summer.

International applicants whose primary language is not English, or who attended school in a non-English speaking country, regardless of citizenship, must prove English proficiency.
