The University of Akron offers the only corrosion engineering bachelor’s degree program in the country. The program incorporates a multidisciplinary curriculum to train students to understand the origins of corrosion and manage its effects. The program also integrates a strong management component to help our students develop the skills that are necessary for executing real-world projects. Students graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Corrosion Engineering.

Career Opportunities
An individual with a Bachelor of Science in Corrosion Engineering can find employment in any industry that is impacted by material degradation — including the oil and gas, chemical processing, and construction industries. Corrosion engineers are the second highest paid type of engineer, according to the National Society of Professional Engineers.
Outlook
As infrastructure weakens due to time and weather conditions, the demand for corrosion engineers is high to mitigate or slow down the effects of corrosion. UA’s unique program means our students are in top demand.

You are a high school student or have completed high school or equivalent and have never enrolled in a college/university. SAT or ACT is not required for standard admission or admission scholarship consideration for all types of applicants. An official SAT or ACT score is required to be considered for direct admission into your intended major.
All undergraduate international applicants must provide proof of English proficiency by meeting the minimum score from one of the following acceptable tests. This requirement can be waived if you meet certain criteria.
