There's a need for interpreters for deaf and hard-of-hearing children in Arizona. Are you ready to answer the call? Elementary and secondary schools are most affected by the shortage of interpreters for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in Arizona and across the nation. The Bachelor of Science in Deaf Studies with an emphasis in Educational Interpreting prepares students to become interpreters for deaf and hard-of-hearing children in educational settings. In addition to becoming fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), students gain a cultural appreciation and respect for deaf culture, utilize current theories/models of interpreting, and gain practical experience through school-based internships.
