The FNP specialty prepares students as a beginning-level primary care provider for families. Upon completion of the program students are eligible to take an FNP national board certification examination. To qualify for entry into the FNP Graduate Certificate program, students must have a degree in nursing as an advanced practice nurse.
The College of Nursing at the University of Arizona offers a variety of programs at the graduate level. Programs are available for students pursuing a first degree in nursing, as well as students interested in advancing in the professional as leaders, advanced practice nurses, and nurse researchers.
As a graduate of the FNP specialty, you will be prepared as a beginning-level primary care provider for families. Upon completion of the program you will be eligible to take an FNP national board certification examination. To qualify for entry into the FNP Graduate Certificate program, you must have a degree in nursing as an advanced practice nurse. The program requires a minimum of 30 credits of clinical course study and 540 clinical practical hours.

To qualify for entry into a Certificate program, you must have a degree and active licensure as an advanced practice nurse (nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist, clinical nurse specialist or certified midwife). Additionally, applicants to the AGACNP specialty must have RN experience in an acute care setting. Certificate programs admit for a fall start only.
