Successful completion of the Master of Education in Counselor Education in School Counseling results in certification for PK-12 school guidance counseling in the State of Florida. The School Counselors: Supporters of Academic Rigor (SOAR) program is a cohort program with 20-30 students selected annually. Across program coursework, students will complete over 700 hours of supervised field experiences over three to four semesters.

The amount of prerequisite course work will depend on the individual student's educational background and ranges from 3-9 hours. Please speak with the graduate program director.
English Language Proficiency:
A minimum TOEFL score of 79 internet-based (550 paper-based or 213 computer-based); A minimum overall Duolingo score of 110 is recommended for admission. Individual programs may require higher scores and all sub scores will be considered; A score of 3 on the College Board Advanced Placement – International English Language (AP-IEL); AP grades range from 5 high to 1 low; 3 equals “Qualified”; or A band score of 6.5 on the University of Cambridge IELTS (International English Language Testing System); band scores range from 9 high to 1 low; 6.5 lies between 6 “competent user” and 7 “good user.”
