The graduate kinesiology program at the University of North Texas provides students with an in-depth understanding of the professional literature, trends and research being conducted in kinesiology, health promotion and recreation.
Why Earn a Kinesiology Master's?
The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation offers coursework leading to a Master of Science degree in kinesiology with concentrations in exercise physiology, sport pedagogy, or sport and exercise psychology. We also participate in three collaborative doctoral degree programs.
Research is a fundamental component of our kinesiology master’s program, and you will have numerous opportunities to participate in groundbreaking research on campus. Some of our current research areas include motor behavior, exercise physiology, nutrition, immunology, sport sociology, stress reactivity, cerebral blood flow regulation, exercise interventions and health disparities.
Our faculty members are outstanding teachers, recognized scholars and active researchers. They’ve earned honors from the American College of Sports Medicine, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, and the Society of Health and Physical Educators.

Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree, its equivalent from a regionally accredited institution, or a three year bachelor’s degree that meets the vetting criteria of a reputable evaluation agency, are eligible to apply for admission to UNT graduate study.
English Language Proficiency: Minimum TOEFL score requirement is 79; Minimum IELTS score is 6.0; Minimum PTE score is 53.
